Ladew Garden’s Evionmentally-based Educational Programming for Title I Elementary School students was the selected beneficiary for Gallop to the Garden, an OLS members-only event held on the beautiful grounds of Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, Maryland.
Over 100 dues-paying OLS members came out on a sun soaked Sunday afternoon for a day of 6 goal polo featuring the Old Line Society’s Constitution Cup, live music and barn party, including a personalized tour of the recently installed sculpture garden by Ladew’s artist-in-residence, Matthew Harris.
OLS members, through their $25 donation, successfully underwrote the cost of bringing 30 Title I Elementary School students to the gardens for a day of nature and discovery as a part of Ladew Garden’s environmentally-based educational programming. An experience that these children would not otherwise have due to lack of funds for the costs of transportation, materials, teaching staff, etc.
This beautiful painting, painted by Patricia Bennett during Gallop to the Garden, was most generously donated to The Old Line Society by the artist. In conjunction with Ladew Topiary Gardens, OLS will be auctioning off this magnificent work at Ladew Topiary Garden’s 45th Anniversary Celebration in September to further benefit the Title I Elementary School Program.
